Established in 1943, the 6,000-acre Travis Air Force Base serves as Military Air Command Headquarters to the 22nd Air Force, as well as a medical center. This is a major airlift and transportation base for armed forces. Large aircraft based at Travis, like the C-5 Galaxy and C-141 Starlifter, are used to transport personnel and supplies to operations in the Pacific Arena. The Navy has a reconnaissance program here, and the Army also has operations based here.
First Support Services is a partner in Aurora Group Telecommunications, LLC with UKPIK Mechanical, Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska providing:
- All personnel, equipment, parts, materials, and services for operation and maintenance of Base Telephone System, which includes AT&T System 85 G3R DCO Switching System and LAN/Data Systems 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
- Providing technical improvements to the BTS,
including design, installation, engineering, site preparation, test, and cutover for existing and new BTS systems/ equipment.
- Site surveys/technical assistance and implementation of new systems/facilities, upgrades, and modifications to BTS.
