Westover Air Reserve Base is the largest Air Force Reserve base in the U.S. Located on approximately 2,500 acres of land covering the entire Connecticut River Valley. Westover is home to the 439 Airlift Wing operating and maintaining 16 C-5A Galaxy Aircraft, repre- senting five percent of U.S. airlift capabilities. The 337th Airlift Squadron is the Wing's flying unit.
The base provides worldwide air movement of troops, supplies, equipment, and medical patients. In addition, the Westover ARB personnel provide airdrop and combat off-load operations. Peacetime mission includes recruiting, training, and supervision of personnel to ensure mission readiness. The base’s 2-mile long main runway is an alternative landing site for the space shuttle.
First Support Services is a Partner in Aurora Group Telecommunications, LLC with UKPIK Mechanical, Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska that provides:
All personnel, equipment, parts, materials,
and services for operation and maintenance of Base Telephone System, which includes support services for a Meridian 1 Option 81C Switching System for voice and data lines 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Also provided O&M of an extensive LAN system, all ancillary systems, and inside/outside cable plant carrier systems.
Site surveys/technical assistance and implementation of new systems/ facilities, upgrades and modifications to BTS on an IQ/ID delivery order basis, and responsible for providing technical improvements to the BTS including design, installation, and engineering.
